Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and Muscle Response Tester

What is a Functional Nutritional
Therapy Practitioner?
So what is a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner?
A Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (FNTP) is a holistic nutrition professional certified by the Nutritional Therapy Association (NTA) to evaluate individual nutritional needs and provide personalized recommendations for dietary changes, lifestyle adjustments, and supplements to promote optimal wellness. FNTPs focus on bio-individuality, recognizing that each person’s body has unique nutritional requirements, and aim to support the body’s innate ability to heal by addressing imbalances and deficiencies. They use a functional, holistic approach to balance body chemistry, emphasizing six foundational areas: blood sugar regulation, fatty acid balance, digestion, hydration, mineral balance, and a nutrient-dense, whole-foods diet.

Unlock Your Wellness with Functional Nutritional Therapy

As a certified Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (FNTP), I’m dedicated to helping you achieve vibrant health by addressing the root causes of nutritional imbalances. My approach is holistic, personalized, and grounded in the belief that your body has an innate ability to thrive when given the right support. Based in Middletown, Ohio, I work closely with clients to create tailored nutrition and lifestyle plans that restore balance and empower you to feel your best.
What I Do
Unlike one-size-fits-all diets, functional nutritional therapy focuses on your unique needs. I assess your body’s nutritional deficiencies and imbalances through a combination of in-depth consultations, hands-on techniques, and bio-individualized recommendations. My goal is to support your wellness journey by optimizing digestion, energy, and overall vitality through whole foods, targeted supplements (when needed), and sustainable lifestyle changes.

My Tools: Touch for Health and Muscle Response Testing (MRT)
I use specialized techniques to gain insight into your body’s needs:
-
Touch for Health: This kinesiology-based method combines muscle testing with principles from traditional Chinese medicine to identify energy imbalances and stress in the body. By gently testing muscle responses, I pinpoint areas where nutritional or lifestyle support can make a difference.
-
Muscle Response Testing (MRT): MRT is a non-invasive tool that helps me assess how your body responds to specific nutrients or stressors. By applying light pressure to muscles, I gather feedback from your nervous system to guide personalized recommendations.
These methods allow me to create precise, individualized plans that align with your body’s unique needs, ensuring you get the most effective support for your wellness goals.

What You Can Expect
Working with me, you’ll gain:
-
A comprehensive assessment of your nutritional and lifestyle habits.
-
A personalized nutrition plan emphasizing whole, nutrient-dense foods to support digestion, energy, and balance.
-
Practical guidance on stress management, sleep, and movement to complement your nutrition plan.

Clients often report feeling more energized, balanced, and in tune with their bodies. Whether you’re struggling with low energy, digestive discomfort, or simply want to optimize your health, I’m here to guide you every step of the way.
My Philosophy
I believe that food is medicine, but it’s only part of the picture. True wellness comes from nourishing your body, mind, and spirit. My practice is rooted in compassion, education, and collaboration—I’m your partner in health, not a dictator with a meal plan. By listening to your story and your body’s signals, I help you unlock the vitality you deserve.

What is Muscle Response Testing?
Muscle Response Testing (MRT) is a safe, non-invasive system of analyzing your body to determine the underlying cause of any imbalances in the body that may be reducing your body's ability to function optimally. There are two key parts to MRT: the identifying of the imbalance and the use of nutritional formulas to improve it.

Identifying the imbalance:
MRT analyzes different areas on the surface of the body, called dermatomes, that relate to the state of health in every organ, and the central nervous system's ability to regulate the functions of that organ. Each area that gives a response represents a specific organ that is not receiving adequate signals from the nervous system resulting in reduced or improper function of that organ system. By testing these dermatomes, I have a system of monitoring your body at each visit. This system is extremely accurate and allows me to identify exactly what the body needs, and how well we are meeting that need.

The process involves me having you lay down and extend your arm straight up perpendicular to the body. I begin by testing whether the arm can lock (or hold). After establishing that the muscle can lock, I press on the various dermatomes and retest the lock of the extended arm. If the organ being contacted is not functioning optimally, the nervous system will reduce the feedback to the extended arm, and the arm will unlock.

Personalized nutritional formulas:
If you have an organ system that unlocks the muscle, I test specific nutrients in the form of whole food supplements against those areas to find any that will best support the organ and relock the muscle. When the correct nutritional supplements are found, I fill out a personalized nutritional supplement program based on your body's individual needs and my MRT findings. By following the program as precisely as possible, you will be well on you way to restoring normal function and improving your health.
Important Note:
Nutritional Therapy and MRT are NOT a quick fix. Rather we are rebuilding the body from the inside out which takes time. You are addressing your health from a cellular level without bandaid fixes. There are no short cuts in identifying and correcting root causes and correcting imbalances. However, the rewards are amazing.
